Was at the Zoo during their Christmas light display. My 20 month old loved it! There were all sorts of photo opportunities, with Santa, wooden Santa, snow globes, Disney characters and the grinch! My son enjoyed running through the light tunnels. Food was for sale and moderately priced. Only bad thing is trying to drive there in the dark, lots of windy roads.
The ride there was absolutely lovely and relaxing. The animals were breathtaking and beautiful! I've seen a lot of complaints about the size of the enclosures for some of the animals, and I honestly have to agree. Some of them are way too small, they are maintained, but I definitely wish they had more. My absolute favorite thing to do was feeding the birds and having all of them fly on me at once. I loved it!
Worst $50 we ever spent. No animals at all. The lights were pleasant scenery but it wasn't worth spending money to see. If you're wanting to "go to the zoo" go somewhere else. I even went in and complained to the office manager and she acted huffy and had to get a man and he told me, well the animals go in their enclosures at night. So the woman ganged up alongside him and went with what he said, obviously her job is to keep money , not to give the paying customers a time worth their money. Then he said well you know we put lights up for you to see...I'm just like ??? Really ??? That's not the zoo experience my family wanted to have. Who's gonna pay 50 bucks to walk in a small circle and look at lights lol. Very VERY dissatisfied. There was literally nothing to do , except every 10 feet there's an opportunity to spend more money of course. This is a business, there to sucker you out of money and that's it
Nice little zoo. As many of the negative reviews piint out, some of the pens are a tad on the small side but every single pen has always been clean and well cared for. All the pens have live plants and/or grass plus climbing and preaching areas, and most have trees available for the animals. There is a nice playground that is great for kids to burn off some extra energy if you ignore the ridiculous bible story in it. The zoo does many extra activities through out the year which are fun to attend and there is an excellent spot for picnics or wading on hot days at the Jordan creek on the zoos exit route.
Good sized zoo. Plenty of open exhibits and types of animals. Was enough to keep both a 6 year old and a 1 year old entertained for a few hours. Snack bar was pretty pricey for what you got, but you can bring in external food. Gift shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. It is also easy to avoid if you don't want your little ones going crazy for a souvenir.
